Centennial Business Solutions has partnered with Skytec Inc., a local pioneer and leader in the development and commercialization of location-based communications services, to bring to market the most comprehensive Automatic Vehicle Localization (AVL) application bundle available in Puerto Rico.
Centennial SkyTrackers combines the coverage, performance and reliability of Centennial's CDMA wireless data network and the broad functionality of Skytec's localization, monitoring and administration application, into as robust an AVL-offering as you can buy anywhere in the world.
A specialized GPS/CDMA equipment unit, mounted permanently in the vehicle or whatever other asset, reports its location with customer-selected intervals (from once every 3 minutes to every five seconds) to a centralized server, where it is plotted on a digitized map and projected on a computer screen connected to a web-based application. While this allows authorized personnel to monitor the routes of all vehicles within a fleet on a near real-time basis and take any action accordingly, the system gathers corresponding data, which is saved for up to six months and can be reported as may be required for maintenance, planning, customer service or legal purposes.
In addition to the vehicle's location, SkyTrackers (if so equipped and programmed) may report such conditions/events as temperature, speed, doors locked/unlocked, doors open/closed and moving/stationary. The vehicle may furthermore be equipped with a panic button, to be invoked when the driver encounters an emergency. In response to events reported, and at the entire discretion of authorized personnel at the customer's offices, the engine of the vehicle may be remotely shut off, provided the proper feature to do so has been installed.
For corporate users, SkyTrackers is exclusively available as a bundle to be ordered from, and provisioned and billed by, Centennial as a one-stop-shop. Monthly-recurring charges and especially favorable non-recurring charges apply.
