As implied by the product name, Private Lines to the USA connect one customer location in Puerto Rico to another in the mainland U.S. via a dedicated link. AT&T supports bandwidth options from 64 Kbps to Fractional T1 and beyond T1, for data or voice applications.
Private Lines to the USA comprise network elements within and outside of the AT&T network. Customers may select to have the US local loop managed through AT&T or directly through the US carrier.
Features and Components
Private Lines to USA consist of three components:
• local loop in PR,
• wet portion, and
• local loop in the USA.
• It is assumed that the PR local loop and the wet segment will be provisioned on AT&T’s network. As stated previously, though, AT&T also offers customers the option of one-stop-shopping for the US-end of the circuit.
Benefits
AT&T provides an end-to-end solution for dedicated capacity to the USA, which affords the customer a continuously available link of capacity required at a flat rate. Such facility enables the cost-effective transmission of large amounts of data or voice traffic between locations off- and on-island.
How Does It Work?
Private Lines to USA are offered via the NAP of the Americas facility in Miami, to which AT&T interconnects via multiple redundant submarine cable systems from Puerto Rico. At the NAP, AT&T may cross-connect to any state-side service provider the customer may choose for the US-portion of the service.
